Winter 2021 COVID SOCIAL DISTANT LEAGUE. We will follow the social curling format, so don't worry about teams. We will curl weekly for as long as the government/arena allows. Out of an abundance of caution, we will only be curling on 4 sheets, which means space is limited to the first 32 players. Please be extra aware and courteous to fellow players. We will provide additional sanitizers at the arena for people and equipment. Modified rules of play are listed below thanks to Dr. Dan.
The Calendar is posted below. We are playing on Saturdays with a start time of 5 PM or 6:15 PM (only Jan 30th) set-up and First rock times half an hour later. If you would like to be on the COVID ICE Set-up team please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., otherwise, we will have to make weekly assignments.
RETURN TO PLAY RULES (During the COVID Pandemic)
DO NOT PLAY if you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms: cough, runny nose, nasal congestion, sore throat, fatigue, headache, or loss of sense of smell.
Locker room access is expected to be limited, so come to the rink dressed in your curling apparel, and just change your shoes when you arrive.
Sign the Covid waiver.
Masks required. Cover your nose as well as your mouth. Removal is permitted only to take a drink of your beverage.
6 ft. distancing.
No handshakes. Fist bumps/elbow taps are allowed but are by no means expected.
Avoid shouting, to the extent possible. Skips will use hand signals for calling the shots. Ryan can give you suggestions for hand signals if you don’t have your own system.
Only one skip in the house at all times. The skip whose team is not throwing stands behind the hack
.
Equipment disinfection. Rock handles, stabilizers, and sliders are to be disinfected by whoever places them on the sheet prior to play, and again by whoever puts them back into storage. Disinfectant wipes will be provided. It is expected that maintaining the 6 ft distancing around the freezers / bomb shelter area will result in a somewhat slower process of setting up, and, esp., taking down the equipment.
Players should touch only their own stone handles. Use your broom, or your foot, to clear other player’s stones at the completion of the end.
Broomstacking will be outdoors, weather permitting, and with social distancing. Although attendance is certainly optional, we encourage everyone to drop by, if only to say “hi”, and also to hear any announcements.
If in the unfortunate event you contract Covid, please inform Ryan or Dan, so that we can adjust the club schedule, and advise you on your return to play.
And, finally, if you feel that these rules are not being followed adequately, or, if you feel that these rules are overly restrictive, please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with Ryan or Dan. We really do value the opinions of our members.
